Patterson to Merriweather for a touchdown

Massillon JV (1-0) took on GlenOak Saturday in their second game of the season. It did not take long for the Tigers offense to get going; QB Manny Patterson tossed a touchdown pass to Javon Merriweather to put Massillon up 7-0. The Golden Eagles responded with a score of their own, adding a two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers took the ball deep into GlenOak territory on their next drive but were unable to score. The next time the Tigers had the ball, they scored a touchdown on an incredible diving effort by QB Eli Moore, but the play was called back for holding. Massillon settled for a Gregory Corsale field goal to retake the lead at half (10-8).

Coach’s Comment…

Coach Grunder: It was another very physical game. The D played really well. Offense turned it up in the second half. Good to see young guys like Braylon Gamble step up… he has a great all-around game (offense, defense, special teams). He played lights-out… can’t wait to see him on Friday nights.
