Howard’s Tiger Rags has been serving Massillon since 1905. Originally a men’s fine clothing store, it has since changed to a Massillon team store (while still specializing in tuxedos and some men’s clothing) under owner Jim Rubin, who has owned the store since the late 1970s.
This Massillon tradition will be kept alive by Liberty Screen Printing and owner Jason Crawford. Liberty has been on the rise as a Massillon team shop over the past couple of years; they now take precedence as the premier Massillon Tigers shop. Conversations to merge Liberty and Howard’s started between the stores around Christmas of 2024. Over the past few weeks Liberty’s team has been preparing to move Howard’s inventory to their store on the west side of town.

Liberty will be continuing the sale of many popular Howard’s items, and they plan to preserve the Howard’s name (while keeping the Liberty name as well). Liberty will still rent out tuxedos and design letterman jackets. They will also be carrying many of the trinkets that Howard’s was famous for– pins, car flags, magnets, decals, and many other items will appear in Liberty’s store. Soon Liberty will be bringing in some designs acquired from the classic Tiger Store that served Massillon in the previous century.
