The Tigers tied Glenville for the second time this season. Massillon rallied in the fourth quarter as quarterback Manny Patterson led the Tigers down the field for 15 points in the last three minutes of the game to finish in a 22-all tie.
The Tigers forced a turnover on downs at their own 12-yard line to start the ballgame but were forced to punt. Glenville scored on a pass, but Massillon shut down the two-point conversion to keep the score at 6-0. Quarterback Manny Patterson drove the Tigers down the field but they were unable to capitalize. The Tarblooders punted the ball back to the Tigers, and running back Savior Owens took advantage of good field position with a touchdown run of 42 yards. Anthony Hoover brought Glenville’s quarterback down for a sack, forcing the Tarblooders to punt. The Tigers gave the ball back on a punt, and Glenville drove down to the Massillon 4-yard line. On fourth-and-goal Bishop Cupp sacked the Tarblooders’ quarterback, forcing a turnover on downs. At the half, Massillon led 7-6.
Glenville started the second half in a strong fashion. They forced a punt and drove down the field on the offensive end, scoring a touchdown and making the two-point conversion to take a 14-7 lead. The Tigers were unable to score, and Glenville intercepted the ball three times (including a pick-6 to take a 22-7 lead) and had the ball going in to the fourth quarter. Massillon’s defense stood their ground, forcing back-to-back turnovers on downs. The Tigers finally capitalized, and Bishop Cupp took the ball into the end zone to cut make the score 22-14 with under three minutes remaining. Glenville was stopped on the ensuing possession and forced to punt, giving the Tigers the ball with just over one minute remaining. Manny Patterson threw a pass to Richard Harris Jr. to put the Tigers in the red zone and tossed a touchdown pass to Javon Merriweather, who reached for the pylon and scored. On the two-point try Patterson handed the ball off to Savior Owens, who tossed a pop pass to Van Hawkins to tie the game at 22. Glenville was unable to score before time ran out, and the Tigers went to the locker room with a tie.

Coach Grunder: “We really played with heart in the fourth quarter. We stood up to the adversity, never backed down, and fought through a lot of penalties to make a fifteen-point comeback and tie the game.”
