Jalen Slaughter was on point Friday night. He went 17 for 23 with 159 yards and two touchdowns. He was crucial in gaining first downs early during a sluggish start for the Tigers.
Despite a slow start to the run game, Ja’Meir Gamble racked up 164 yards on only 18 carries while scoring two touchdowns.
A trio of Tigers are in this week’s defensive spotlight. They are part of a defense that racked up 4 sacks and 8 tackles-for-loss while allowing only 12 rush yards.
Mylen Lenix was in the backfield all night for the Tigers. He racked up a sack and two tackles-for-loss while forcing a fumble and putting numerous pressures on the Hornets’ quarterback.
Lucas Shertzer was a hard-hitting menace to the Hornets run and pass games during Friday’s Round 1 game. 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles-for-loss highlight his big night— a performance that sums up his season well… whenever he has the opportunity, he has delivered.
Tra’Yon Williams had a sack and two tackles-for-loss on another great night. He played great coverage all night and helped shut down the Hornets’ run game.
