The Tigers rolled to a 45-0 win over the GlenOak Golden Eagles on Friday. Some key performers led to a Tigers’ rout.
Massillon’s offense scored 38 points against the Golden Eagles. A key player for the Tiger offense was Ja’Meir Gamble. He repeatedly led the Tigers down the field, setting up a field goal and a touchdown while also scoring a pair of touchdowns of his own. He ended the game with 120 yards rushing and two touchdowns. For this excellent performance, Ja’Meir Gamble is the offensive spotlight player of the week.
The Tigers’ defense stood strong the entire game, shutting out GlenOak and holding them to 103 total yards of offense. Toward the end of the third quarter, the Tigers’ second-stringers came out to finish the job and shut out the Golden Eagles. After the Golden Eagles drove down to the Massillon 9-yard line, linebacker Lucas Shertzer sacked GlenOak quarterback Adrion Burt for a 12-yard loss, eventually leading to a turnover on downs and keeping the shutout in tact. On GlenOak’s next drive, Shertzer blew up Burt’s pass, batting it up in the air. The ball was picked out of the air by linebacker Bishop Cupp, who took the ball into the end zone for a Tigers’ touchdown. The ensuing extra point put Massillon up 45-0. Shertzer ended the game with one tackle (sack), two assists, and a deflected pass. Cupp finished with a tackle, an assist, and an interception for a touchdown. For their roles in preserving the Tigers’ shutout and adding a touchdown, Lucas Shertzer and Bishop Cupp are the defensive spotlight players of the week.
