Massillon routed Canisius 41-7 on Friday evening. There were many players that had excellent performances; here are a few that stood out.
Jacques Carter had an excellent game at wide receiver for the Tigers. He caught four passes for 91 yards. One of those was a 24-yard touchdown grab, and another was an incredible tumbling, helmet pinning circus catch that went for 43 yards. For these catches that included an incredible effort to stay with the ball, Jacques Carter is the offensive spotlight player of the week.
Lennox Lemon had an excellent defensive game at the corner position. He recorded two tackles and intercepted a ball from Canisius quarterback Matteo Brusco, taking it 44 yards to the house for the Tigers’ first score. He was part of a Tigers’ starting secondary that allowed only nine yards passing. For his lock-down coverage and pick-6, Lennox Lemon is the defensive spotlight player of the week.
Mylen Lenix played both ways (linebacker and running back) on Friday and excelled in both offensive and defensive play. On his only rush of the game, Lenix took the ball 11 yards for a touchdown. On defense, Lenix made five tackles, including a tackle-for-loss. Lenix also recovered a fumble, taking it in to the end zone for a defensive score. For his two-way performance and for scoring a touchdown both ways, Mylen Lenix is one of this week’s two-way spotlight players.
The second two-way player in the spotlight this week is Tyler Hackenbracht. He played lockdown defense at the safety position— part of a Tigers’ starting secondary that allowed only 9 passing yards. He recorded 3 tackles on the defensive side. Hackenbracht also played special teams; he punted twice, averaging 34.5 yards per punt. Hackenbracht also returned one punt, taking it 52 yards for a touchdown. For his performance on multiple fronts, Tyler Hackenbracht is the second two-way spotlight player of the week.
