Tigers’ Baseball Romps in Record-Setting Rout of Euclid in OHSAA Opening Round
The Tigers played at home today in front of a friendly crowd eager for tournament time— neither the Tigers hitting nor their pitching disappointed.
Massillon jumped on top quickly in the first inning with 11 runs. Drew Longwell locked down with a quick inning and the Tigers’ hitters got back to work. They piled on 20 more runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 31-0. The starters left for the dugout and the Tigers played all backups for the third and fourth innings. They added four more runs in the fourth and shut down Euclid’s hitters in the top of the fifth to earn a 35-0 run-rule shortened victory.
Drew Longwell and Brayden Kraemer locked down Euclid for a combined 5 inning no-hitter. The Tigers on the other hand recorded 16 hits. They also reached on 9 errors. Massillon batters drew 16 walks and were hit by a pitch 7 times.
The 35 runs were the 20th highest in OHSAA history for a single team in a single game (postseason or regular season).
