Player Spotlight- Week 3 vs. Bergen Catholic

 

The Tigers fell to Bergen Catholic on Friday. Although it was not the result the Tigers wanted, there were still many positive performances throughout the game.

Ja’Meir Gamble carried the ball 13 times for the Tigers on Friday, rushing for 98 yards and scoring a touchdown. He also caught six passes from quarterback Jalen Slaughter for 20 yards and returned a kickoff 44 yards. For his impact in multiple roles for the Tigers, Ja’Meir Gamble is one of the offensive spotlight players for the second time this season.

Deangelo Zimmerman returned from injury to start at tight end for the Tigers against Bergen. He immediately had an impact for the Tigers’ offense. On Massillon’s opening drive, he caught an 18-yard pass to set up a Tiger touchdown. Later in the first quarter, he caught a 26-yard touchdown pass. Zimmerman led all Tigers receivers in the game with 44 yards receiving. For his impactful performance coming back from injury, Deangelo Zimmerman is one of the offensive players of the week.

Tra’Yon Williams had a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball for the Tigers. He had eleven tackles (seven solo, four assists), good for second on the team. He also had an interception which he took back 30 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 21 late in the first half. For his lock-down defensive performance, Tra’Yon Williams is the defensive spotlight player of the week.
