The Tigers annihilated Legacy Sports (Texas) last Friday. A few Massillon players had standout performances in the game; they are featured in this week’s spotlight.
Ja’Meir Gamble had a record night on Friday. He rushed for 290 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 19.3 yards per carry. Among those touchdowns were runs of 77 and 68 yards.
Recordwise, Ja’Meir’s 290 yards are 3rd all time behind Travis McGuire (302 in 1991) and Willtrell Hartson (324 in 2020). His 5 touchdowns are tied for 5th all time with great names such as Jamir Thomas, Travis McGuire, Bob Glass, Edwin “Dutch” Hill, and Terrence Keys, Jr. His average of 19.3 yards per carry is 2nd only behind Mike Mauger (20 in 1970). For his career-best performance, Ja’Meir Gamble is the offensive spotlight player this week.
Mylen Lenix was all over the backfield Friday night. He had 7 tackles, with 2.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles-for-loss. The 2.5 sacks are tied for 5th place all-time in a single game with Antonio James (2005). On the offensive side, Mylen rushed for 39 yards. For his performance that epitomized the Tigers’ “Black Swarm” defense, Mylen Lenix is the defensive spotlight player this week.
Tyler Hackenbracht led the Tigers in tackles with 9 (including two tackles-for-loss), cleaning up the Legacy runs and short passes and shutting down their offense. He also had two excellent punts, his longest going for 64 yards. He averaged 56 yards per punt. For this excellent performance, Tyler Hackenbracht is the two-way spotlight player of the week.
