Two Tigers Head to D3 Power

Massillon running back Peytton Mitchell and wide receiver Ricardo Wells both announced that they have been given the opportunity to join the Mount Union Purple Raiders football program this upcoming season. The two Tigers would join Massillon alum Zack Liebler, who started at corner as a true freshman for UMU. The Purple Raiders were runners up in the nation last season, falling to North Central (IL) in the national championship game. They will continue to be contenders–perhaps this time with the help of a few more Tigers.

Massillon Football to Play in Summer 7v7 Tournament

As the popularity of 7v7 offseason tourneys rises, Tiger players have jumped in the mix. Manny Patterson, Chayce White, and Deontay Malone are some of the Tigers who have taken advantage of the recently approved events. This summer the Massillon program will be taking their first dive into 7v7. On June 26th, the Tigers will take a trip down to Panther Stadium in Pickerington, Ohio, to participate as a team in a 7v7 tourney. This event will give the Tigers great looks on the field versus some top Ohio contenders– it will also be highly frequented by college scouts. Other participants include Bishop Watterson, Cincinnati Anderson, Pickerington North, Wayne Huber Heights, Dublin Jerome, St. Francis DeSales, Big Walnut, Columbus Africentric, St. Vincent-St. Mary’s, Columbus Northland, Westland, Ashland, Worthington Kilbourne, and Hamilton Twp.

If the tournament is similar to last years’, it will be held in a bracket format, giving every team a chance to take home the title. More information will be released at some point… I’ll have the updates right here.

Below is a look at last year’s format…
