Flag Football Victorious Again

Massillon flag football remained undefeated after a comeback win versus Akron Hoban on Sunday. The Tigers went down 12-0 early but stormed back for a 30-22 victory. A last second drive by Hoban was ended with an interception. The Tigers’ 30 points were the most (and the first) scored against Hoban this season.

The JV team defeated Akron Early 30-0.

OHSBCA Coach of the Year

The OHSBCA named their coaches of the year this weekend. Massillon boys basketball Head Coach Josh Hose was named DII Coach of the Year. The other recipients of this prestigious award are Anthony Calo of Olentangy Orange (DI), Derrell Black of Aiken (DIII), Matt Combs of Unioto (DIV), Josh Shoemaker of Minford (DV), Kurt Goettemoeller of Marion Local (DVI), and Spencer Cordonnier of Russia (DVII).

Aidan Longwell Drives in Runs During A-ball Debut on Friday– Homers on Sunday

Aidan Longwell had an excellent spring– he is now heating up in A-ball with the Spokane Indians. Aiden had two sac flies and two RBIs in the season opener on Friday. He went 0-3 on Saturday but got his first hit on Sunday. That hit was a line-drive bomb to right that sailed out of the park for his first home run of the season. Take a look at the home run below!

Tiger Alum Breaks Track Record for Cleveland State

Cleveland State freshman and Massillon alum Trinity Lamp took down a speed record at Cleveland State this weekend. She ran the 100m Hurdles at the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Invite with a time of 14.33. The previous record of 14.38 had been in place since 2019. Trinity had a successful “run” with Massillon, winning the 100m hurdles district and regional championships in her senior year with a time of 14.88.

Former Tiger Punter to Transfer

Record-holding Massillon punter Magnus Haines is entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. He has spent the last few seasons with Arkansas State after playing four seasons (2017-2020) for the Tigers. Haines holds the Massillon’s career record for punt yards (4,405) and punts (119).

Two Tiger Wrestlers Honored

Massillon wrestlers Frankie Salvino and Chris Fair were both named 1st Team All-Stark County today. They also both earned Academic All-Ohio for their work in the classroom.
