The Massillon boys basketball banquet was held last night– many Tiger players from the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams were honored with various team awards. A list of these is below.
“General” Awards
OHSBCA Silver Scholar– Damarion Day
OHSBCA Gold Scholars– Chris Knight, Terrelle Keyes, Jalen Slaughter
Freshman Awards
Best Teammate– Mason Simons
Player of the Year– Terrion Wells
Junior Varsity Awards
Best Teammate– Hunter Warstler
Player(s) of the Year– Isaac Maxheimer, Marcus Garner
Varsity Awards
Best Teammate– Chris Knight
Booster Club Hustle Award– Xavier Williams, Isaiah Lamp
Booster Club Character Award– Terrelle Keyes
Most Coachable Award– Gio Jackson Jr, Jadyce Thigpen
Sportsmanship Award– Chris Knight
Selflessness Award– Isaiah Lamp, Braylon Gamble
A few players were also honored for their outside awards. Chris Knight and Gio Jackson were District 4 1st team and honorable mention respectively; Chris was named POY. He was also NE Ohio Inland District D2 Player of the Year. Terrelle Keyes, Gio Jackson, and Xavier Williams were honorable mentions on this list. Chris Knight was 1st team All-Ohio; he also had one of the top free throw percentages in the state. Gio Jackson Jr was honored for his 2pt percentage– he was 4th in the state in that category. Chris Knight was also honored for his point achievement for the Tigers. He ended his career 2nd all-time on the scoring list with 1,265 points.
